The 300-strong team at a logistics site in Corby celebrated its second ‘anniversary’, during which a brand new ambition for the warehouse was also unveiled by its leaders.
On the second anniversary of its £60m 750,000sq ft warehouse at Midlands Logistics Park, Europa Warehouse bosses said they want Corby to be recognized as the ’employer of choice’ In the region.
They plan to achieve this by creating a workplace where employees have a “great experience,” receive “competitive” pay rates, and are able to grow their careers.
Dionne Redpath, Europa Warehouse Division Director, who is also Europa Worldwide Group Chief Operating Officer, said: “The second anniversary of the official opening of our Corby factory has been a fantastic opportunity to bring our teams together to celebrate over cake and catch up.
“Discussing with colleagues, we also took the opportunity to share with them our own ambition.
“In the two years since Corby has been operational, we have made significant progress, achieving efficiencies and improving our customer offering. We are also deeply focused on promoting culture in our workplace.
“Our goal is for our growing team to feel greatly appreciated, so that they are part of something bigger, bolder and better as they begin their journey with us.
“We want everyone to be proud of Europa Corby and to tell friends and family about our determination to grow the Warehouse division and the whole Group even further in the months and years to come. “
Europa Worldwide Group recently announced that the target of crossing £300 million in revenue has been achieved over the past 12 months. Corby’s contribution to this overall performance has been crucial, as the facility has gone from strength to strength since it was built and commissioned at the height of the global pandemic.
The warehouse manages five key contracts for customers, growing from just two initially, and provides e-commerce fulfillment business to four premier liquor retailers and a healthcare provider.
Volumes of goods passing through the warehouse have increased by 350% since June 2020, from 8,000 units per day to 28,000 per day.
Arron Delamare, Operations Manager at Europa Warehouse in Corby, said: “While our state-of-the-art automation processes are key to improving productivity and helping us reduce operational costs for our customers, so are our fantastic teams of staff who always work immensely hard during each shift to exceed their current targets.
“Without them, Corby wouldn’t have been so successful, so it was absolutely brilliant to all come together and celebrate our second anniversary and share the vision for the warehouse going forward.
Staff across the Corby site – all of whom perform a range of roles from operators to forklift drivers, flow managers to engineers – were delighted to have the opportunity to mark the facility’s second anniversary, especially facilities coordinator Paul Coe, who also joined the warehouse on its official opening day.
He said, “I couldn’t ask for a better role, supporting the cast and direction.”
