Weekly eBay Chat: Store Finder, Fees, Fraud Report

Sellers showed up on Wednesday for eBay’s weekly chat session, and moderators answered questions and comments. Probably due to the fact that it was 3 days before Christmas, attendance was slightly lower than usual. Here are some of the questions raised during the session.

1) A seller offered eBay feedback on search in the store. @somanypostcards wrote: “Currently when someone visits a store there is an in-store search option that says ‘Find all items nnn’ (ie in the store). Is it possible to keep this research in-store on the search results pages? Right now, if someone searches a store, the search results are displayed and there is also only one search box for all of eBay; the in-store search box has disappeared. The only way for them to do another store search is to tap the previous tab. Many shoppers may not know this, so a second search kicks them out of the store. “

An eBay moderator replied, “I was able to reproduce this and I will pass on your comments. Thank you!”

2) Another seller reported that the “search by image” feature has been temporarily removed from the eBay mobile app. An eBay moderator responded, “We have no further information to provide other than being informed that the image search feature has been temporarily disabled for the iOS and Android apps.”

3) A salesperson who raised concerns about the effort required to generate sales and expense data from managed payment transactions during last week’s chat session returned to explain why he believed that eBay moderator’s response did not resolve the issues. No response from moderators.

4) And a seller worried about having no way to report account hijackings was told by an eBay moderator, “If you’re in the process of doing a transaction with a buyer you think is from a compromised account, please report the buyer through this help page.

“If you are trying to report an account that you are not in a transaction with, there is no way I know of to do so.”

While sellers don’t always get the answer they hoped for, the weekly chat session is one of the few ways that sellers can ask questions and communicate concerns in real time. Chats take place every Wednesday at 4 p.m. EST, and you can find a link on this eBay discussion forums page (the link of the week appears in the afternoon of the day the chat is scheduled).
